At Triple H, people continue to benefit from horses by observing and actually experiencing for themselves two major disciplines of the horse: Herd dynamics and equine intuition.

Horses they have survived through the years building good relationships using incredible yet simple team building techniques. There is much we can learn from their herd dynamics including the importance of: |
- Good communication choices
- Observation and awareness
- Positive and open attitudes
- Strong leadership
- Trust

We can start to explain this phenomenon by pointing out that horses are very insightful animals. They have an intuitive sense of interpretation and respond to people with raw honesty.
What we see when interacting with a horse is an honest response to what we are offering them. If we are angry, the horses respond to the anger with irritation or fear. The ears may go back or he may move away if he is concerned for his safety. If it is a more peaceful and caring interaction, the horse will usually stick around to find out more about us with an alert look on his face.

This horse, Prairie, is attentive and listening to the person taking the picture (notice her ears are facing toward the person). She is relaxed and continues eating because the person is calm and non-threatening.
Horses do not have a reason to judge or deny a person’s feelings nor do they feel the need to “sugar coat” their response. They don’t feel the burden of being responsible for fixing someone’s problems. They are able to respond in a way that we all wish we could, a way that says “this is how I truly feel about what you’ve just offered me”. In other words, what we see horses doing, is giving the person a chance to find out how their behaviors truly effect others. So, what about you? Would you like to know how others experience you? Just ask one of our horses and he’ll be glad to show you!
Horses Helping Humans workshops take place in a quaint setting at the McAlister House in Pendelton, SC, a restored farmhouse from the 1800’s. We also run programs at some beautiful farms in Anderson and Marietta, SC and in Martin, GA.

Like people, horses have a strong instinct for self-preservation. Today’s youth face circumstances that can create overprotective strategies in their relationship skills. They can develop trust issues and hide away their real feelings in fear of criticism. Horses do not pass judgment or question their identity. Equine assisted growth and learning activities bring kids to a place where they can take a look at how their actions affect others. They discover who they really are and embrace the possibility of becoming the person they want to be! After establishing a connection with the horse, even the most uncooperative of youth can find reason to drop their guard and consider the vulnerability and value of themselves and others.
Horses Helping Humans has been working with school districts in SC and GA (through non-profit organizations such as Happy Hooves, Caring Communities of the Carolina’s, Helens Hugs and Reins of Life) to give students in alternative education and special education a chance to experience this adventure on a weekly on-going basis. We offer group and individual activities for various schools and youth groups from any organization. It can be set up as a one time outing, or as a weekly session for a length of time that suits your needs. It is a fun, hands-on experience that can have lasting effects in every relationship they have. Youth leaders and school administrators can get more information by contacting us at info@horseshelpinghumans.net or calling 864-245-2307.
“I saw amazing results within the first three sessions with all eight of our students. Some might call this innovative positive youth development, I call it a miracle.” Mary Anne Brookshire, former director of Rebound Alternative School.
Sometimes kids are more willing to work together or try new things when the circumstance is unique.

Every counselor knows that clients sometimes have a hard time articulating thoughts and experiences. There are times that people may even avoid facing the very things that bring them to the office. Using horses to assist with therapy can help bring these issues to the surface because horses:
- Have an intuitive nature
- Respond without judgment
- Have no preconceived notions
- Are honest with their responses
- Communicate with body language, not words
|
Counseling can take place before, during and/or after the activities. The activity experience and body language are interpreted by the client, his/her counselor and the Triple H support counselor. Being with the horses encourages self awareness in a way that is very natural. The effects can last a lifetime and can provide discussions for weeks during sessions back in the office. Triple H offers support counseling for individuals, couples and families. Counselors can get more information or make an appointment by contacting us at info@horseshelpinghumans.net or by calling 864-245-2307.

Relationship skills are easily demonstrated through simple tasks.
